1st edition, 1958. Book size - 10 x8 inches, pp. colour fronitt + 36, colour illustrations throughout text, hardback in dustjacket . Book condition - Very Good ; contents clean, no foxing, no inscriptions, inner hinges intact and binding firm ; publisher's red cloth with title in black on the front and spine ; fore-edge corners a little bent but not worn or split, boards' edges all good, back very clean, back hinge intact, spine complete with ends slightly rubbed and creased but not split, spine clean with clear lettering, front hinge good, front very clean with complete and clear lettering . Dustjacket - Good plus ; fore-edge corners show some rubbing and slight loss, top and bottom edges good, back clean with a few small patches of colour loss towards the top corner, spine a bit tanned though the title remains clear, spine shows loss c. 1 cm at the head and c. 2 cm. at the foot, front clean though with some blue ink marks towards the lower left ; dj. now in clear, removable, paper-backed covering. Please see photos for indications of condition and contents. Louis Slobodkin (1903 1975) was an American sculptor, writer, and illustrator of numerous children's books.
