Jacob Moleschott (1822-93) ".studied medicine at Heidelberg (1842-1845) under Tiedemann, Naegele, and Henle. On 22 January 1845 he received his medical degree with the thesis 'De Malpighianis pulmonum vesiculis'. It had been written under the direction of Jakob Henle, who had instructed him in the use of the microscope." (D.S.B.). The three micrographs in the plate present the results with Henle's Schiek microscope and micrometer and Henle's Hyrtl injection preparations of pulmonary tissues.
