VERY RARE gilded & embossed illustrated hardcover book complete with dust-jacket. "The Little Colonel's Knight Comes Riding" By Annie Fellows Johnston. Illustrator: Etheldred B. Barry. This is the Twenty-Sixth Impression, published by L. C. Page & Company Publishers, Boston, May 1944. 12mo, 19.8 cm x 14 cm x 3.4 cm, Burgundy cloth-covered boards, Gilt embossed lettering on spine & front cover, Clear embossed 'The Little Colonel' Trade Mark on back cover, Matt printed dust-jacket. 318 pages. Weight: 452 Grams. CONTENTS ARE LIKE NEW!!! However, dust-jacket is age tanned, discoloured, foxed, scuffed & creased in places, some scratches, hole on front, marked on reverse, edges frayed, creased & torn with tiny pieces missing. BOOK IN GREAT SHAPE: Spine has ridge down middle but remains clean & sturdy, slightly bumped & scuffed either end, gilt bright, binding tight! Cover is mostly clean with a very faint mark on front, edges discoloured & a little worn. One corner slightly bumped, all a bit scuffed. Ink annotation on 1st end paper, transfer of ink onto front pastedown & dust-jacket flap. Faint marks in margin of p. 270. Page 271/272 and p. 317/318 have a light corner fold. Some pages (very few) have creasing alongside spine. Top edge slightly foxed & marked. Very light age tanning throughout. RARE ITEM, BOOK IN EXCELLENT CONDITION!!!
