Half leather binding, gilt titles, raised gilt bands with gilt decoration to the compartments, top page edges gilt, marbled paste downs and end papers. Second edition, revised of William Morris' poem following mythological hero Jason. Penned by acclaimed textile designer and poet William Morris (1834-1896). Morris is credited with reviving traditional British textile art, and he helped establish modern fantasy as a writer, publishing short stories, novels and poetry throughout his life. He is still hailed as a prominent figure of the Victorian era remembered primarily for his art, although he was more renowned in his lifetime for poetry. This was Morris' third collection of poetry, illustrated with Morris' own woodcut to the title page. 367pp. Provenance - no inscriptions or bookplates. Approximately 7 ½ inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine good condition gilt titles with five raised gilt bands, faded in places, gilt decoration to the compartments, rubbed and gently worn. Joints good condition rubbed and worn. Corners good condition bumped and worn. Boards good condition half morocco leather with marbled boards with a gilt tooled border, marks on both boards due to wear and age. Page edges good condition top edge gilt, others tanned. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition sound. Paste downs good condition marbled. End papers good condition marbled, subsequent end papers tanned and foxed.
