Descripción

xvi & 578 pages; Publisher's black cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine and front cover. Minor rubbing, LC Surplus-Duplicate stamp on the front free endpaper, small accession stamp on the verso of the title page -- no other library marks. The first edition of this first volume of Friedrich Müller's exhaustive survey of commercial papermaking and its machinery was published in similar format in 1926. There is a detailed preface to this 1940 third edition, and another indication of the extent to which our 1940 edition was revised is consider that the 1926 edition had 440 pages, rather than 578 page in the present edition. It hardly needs to be pointed out that German technical books published in the early 1940's did not get sent to the USA in the numbers which similar books from earlier decades might have led one to expect. (Three additional volumes had been published by 1931; not offered here. We have only this revised first volume). With plates throughout -- ["346 im text eingedr. Skizzen, 4 Skizzen als Kunstdruckblatt, 8 Faserarten als Kunstdruckblatt"] OCLC Number: 73181969. A heavy volume; shipping beyond the borders of the US will be expensive.
