ILLUSTRATIONS: 50 wood engravings in text; 4 full page colour plates; 2 full page b/w portaits; 14 full page b/w steel engravings. All plates have tissue guards which have varying amounts brown spotting. The illustrations are delightful and add much to the enjoyment of the book. Bright, clean pages but with some browning or brown spotting in places. There is light browning or brown spotting on most of the plates and on endpapers. The leather cover with gilt decoration has a little wear at corners and some rubbing along the spine edges as seen in the photo. Decorative gilt edge on inside edges of front and rear boards.
