Martin Usteri, Johann Heinrich Lips, Franz Hegi, Johann Heinrich Meyer, Franz Nikolaus König and Ludwig Hess; two old repairs to marginal tears, occasional foxing, but very nice and crisp in a charming contemporary red roan-backed orange boards, gilt rules to sides, gilt-lettering to spine, glazed green endpapers. A charming publication and a fine example of classic German book production, illustrated with elegant vignettes. Künstler Lieder is a collection of German and Swiss folk songs, ballads and poetry, each prefixed by etched and engraved illustrations and vignettes, by Joh. Martin Usteri, Johann Heinrich Lips, Franz Hegi, Johann Heinrich Meyer, Franz Nikolaus König and Ludwig Hess, representing the best in Swiss engraving and illustration of the time. The second part contains printed music for the Künstler Lieder, The work was to the Schweizerische Künstlergesellschaft in Zofingen, and includes contributions by its members.
