[1-12], 1-310, 1-36, [1-50] (index). Engraved titlepage of Venus sailing on a shell (signed: Cor. Cl. Duysent, fec.), shows early (amateur?) hand coloring in this copy with light red & greenish brown inks (now faded). Lacking the front & back marbled endpapers. Bound in full, maroon morocco with four raised bands on the spine, and second compartment gilt-lettered: IVSTIN HIST, other compartments are richly gilt with a floral, arabesque tooling, covers with rectangular, triple line borders & central design with floral tools at corners, gilt borders on cover edges, and on front turn-ins; sewn headbands, all edges gilt, marbled paper paste-downs. Binding is from the 1650-1750 period, and is unsigned. Outer hinges, binding edges show light wear, marbled endpapers removed, and amateur hand-coloring to engraved titlepage, as noted above; flyleaf margins show some tanning; modern bookplate on front marbled paste-down.
