Part of a series of country guides issued by the Board of Trade at various points since the 1940s (the first Iraq issue appeared in 1945), this was prepared to give market seeking British exporters essential practical information prior to and during a visit. As noted, this was issued upon the resumption of diplomatic relations between Britain and Iraq on 10 April 1974, after they had been severed on 1 Dec 1971. This opens with contact details for the Commercial Secretary in Baghdad, and the recommendation to avoid public or Embassy holidays, and note that Friday is the Muslim holiday. Sections cover general information (geography, people, towns, climate, language, health, social customs, religion, hours of business etc); travel (to and within); hotels, restaurants and tipping; postal, telephone, telegraph and telex; economic factors; import and exchange control regulations; methods of doing business; reading; and Government and commercial organisations. The map shows Iraq on a scale of 1 inch to 80 miles, and features international boundaries, airports, main roads and rail. N° de ref. del artículo 4859
