Book condition: very good, very scarce two volume set, wonderful history of this famous, house, built in 1610 it has passed through a number of owners, most notably Dysart and Tollemache, these volumes contain portraits of those who lived here along with views of its magnificent interior and exterior, each heavy green paper dust jacket features gilt lettering and a crest on the front, the dust jacket of volume I shows a 2.5" tear to top front, scuffing to corners, chips off bottom edges and spine head and tail, the back shows three areas where part of the paper is pulled back with two sections measuring 3.5 X 1 inch, small chips off spine head and tail, .5 chip off bottom edge, thin 1" hole to mid spine, the dust jacket of volume II shows a small pull to top front with a 1" tear to bottom left corner, medium chips off spine head and tail, boards are half bound in red cloth and vellum corners and spines, brilliant lettering and crest on both, light to moderate soiling to vellum, page edges rough cut, inscription in pencil on ffep of volume I, each volume features frontis with inset illustration on title pages, a few spots to top of last few pages of volume I, overall interiors very clean, bindings tight, total of 155 pages with index at back of volume II, 11.5 X 15.5 inches.
