Text and sectional titles, illustrated with 100 FINELY HAND COLOURED AQUATINT PLATES. Complete. The plates are colour printed aquatints with additional hand colouring - as issued- using thick colours and gum Arabic. Plates after Wild, Sutherland, Stephanoff, Westall, and others, some light spotting or occasional offsetting as often plus a tiny abrasion to the margin of one plate, one plate and one page of text with a small old outer marginal stain and one plate with a small outer marginal chip. However - a GOOD COPY WITH FINE COLOURING. One of the key British colour plate books. Featuring numerous images of the details of interiors of buildings such a Carlton House and Windsor Castle that were lost in renovations applied by subsequent generations. The sections are Windsor Castle, Frogmore, Hampton Court, Buckingham House, Kensington Palace, St. James's Palace, Carlton House. William Henry Pyne 1769 -1843 was an English writer, illustrator and painter, this was his major work which bankrupted him. He was imprisoned for debt more than once, and died a poor man.
