Decorative cloth, beveled boards, gilt eagle decoration on front cover, gilt titled spine. CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Wear to spine ends with small amount of chipping; spine faded, else cover is clean. Interior front hinge weak; else pages are age-tone, clean and tight. With clear, mylar wrapper. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: The 124th Ill served in the Western Theater. Operating in Tennessee, they joined in the siege for Vicksburg and later Mobile Bay. A scarce Illinois regimental history of a significant unit; here in a fair only copy with several condition issues. REFERENCE: DORN Ill #345. NEVINS I pg 107: "A solid study; based diaries, letters, and conversations with other members of the regiment; the 124th Illinois campaigned mostly in the Gulf region."
