Original wraps titled in English and Arabic 21x31cm. Printed by Sout El-Omal. (1), 21pp English text, 14pp Arabic text credited to the Geological Survey Department (GSD) + b/w folding map credited to A. Aljunied, GSD. Dated 1974 from the map. Good with archival paper tape reinforcement to spine and gutters, map neatly folded with stub tear. This appears to be extremely rare, not recorded on Worldcat or Library Hub. It describes PDRY's geological setting, and GSD's activities during 1970-73. 1970 saw the creation of the Petroleum and Minerals Board including the Yemen National Oil Company and GSD, and the South-Yemeni Algerian Petroleum Company (SYAPCO). SYAPCO was charged with oil exploration within the concession area, and GSD with collecting information on geology and useful minerals. GSD received technical support from the UNDP, Romania, China, and the USSR. Components of the imminent 1974-78 General Programme (part of the 5 year Development Plan) are described, and results presented for the Ghabar and Yaffa Areas, Black Beach Sands, other useful minerals, rare metals and rare earths. In line with its mandate, GSD prioritises areas for further investigation, and emphasising the need for further technical support, presently offered by the USSR and Czechoslovakia. The map 44x43cm titled "The Metallogenic Position of PDRY" in fact covers the entire Arabian Peninsula into Turkey, Syria and Iraq, and the Iranian side of the Gulf. N° de ref. del artículo 5075
