Thick & heavy book. PLEASE NOTE: As this book is heavy (over 1.2 Kg), if you are buying this from outside the U.K. please expect additional shipping costs. 8vo, 22.4 cm x 16 cm x 5.2 cm, Cream cloth-covered boards, Gilt embossed lettering & decoration on spine and front cover, Decorated end papers, Unevenly sized & rough-cut pages, Tissue-guarded colour inlaid illustrations on plates. 387 pages. Weight: 1.238 Kg (1238 Grams). CONTENTS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION!!! However, there are several cracks between pages throughout the book. Spine is grubby, marked and discoloured, damp damage & fading at tail, bumped & scuffed either end, gilt in lettering & decoration mostly worn away and turned green. Cover is also rather grubby & marked, cloth a little loose alongside spine both sides, gilt & decoration fine but dull & slightly worn away in places, edges marked & worn. Corners are bumped & scuffed, one is frayed. Faint marks & writing indents on front end papers, with slight damage at head of spine area. Ink annotation on reverse of 1st end paper, small ink transfer to first title page. Some pages (very few) have faint smudges mostly in margins, and/or corner folds, and/or creasing/fold alongside spine area, and/or light handling creases, and/or tiny edge nicks/tears. Pages xiii and adjacent page are still attached to each other at vertical edge. Page 35/36 has a fold on vertical edge. Small sticker on reverse of last page. Light age tanning & occasional foxing throughout. VERY RARE BOOK, BEAUTIFUL INSIDE!!!
