War in the air on the Western Front in WWI is graphically described in this account by a German aviator mainy involved in hazardous aerial photography over the front lines. While not as well know as the books from Allied flyers, most facets of life, and death, of times aloft and at rest and the thoughs on war by German airmen are eloquently presented, without pretension. Translated by Claud W Sykes, not dated but probaby late 1920s/early '30s. Apparently first English edition, no reprint or impression notations. 198 pages, all 32 b/w plates present, these include a frontis drawing of the author, small chapter head drawings. Yellow hard covers with black front and spine titles VG with five small brown spots to front board, light wear spine extremities/corners, FFEP has been removed vertically 2.5cm out from gutter, half title is foxed, text block otherwise excellent with occasional foxing, mainly adjacent plates.
