Minor foxing to early leaves and edges of text block, superficial abrasive rubbing to inner edge of frontispiece image, spine slightly dulled, but overall a VG+ copy. Frontispiece. An uncommon book by Richard Marsh, author of gothic horror classic The Beetle (1897), the title tale here reflecting his talent for anticipating the impact of new technology. Monochrome frontispiece which is slightly rubbed along front edge, royal blue cloth, lettering to spine and front cover in gilt, publisher's device blind-stamped to lower cover, cloth to spine panel a little darkened and slightly rubbed along edges, end-papers tanned, scattered foxing to prelims, slight cracking to binding, otherwise a Very Good copy of an extremely scarce collection of criminous short stories.
