Jacket torn and discolored at edges and margins and lacking top two or three inches of jacket at spine. Scattered brown stains on jacket. Boards each with small patch of pale discoloration along bottom edge. Interior is clean, bright, and tight throughout. Includes black and white illustrations. Good copy in a poor to fair jacket. Includes tipped in original notes, manuscripts, and typescripts for an article about the copper scroll, written by scroll scholar Manred R. Lehmann, subsequently published in the Revue de Qumran, 1964. The notes are in English, French, Hebrew, and Greek. A print out of that article (in English, and acquired from JSTOR), as well as a print out of biographical information about Lehmann (acquired from his foundation website) are also included with this volume. The Dead Sea Scrolls were first discovered in the 1940s and rapidly became one of the most important discoveries in archeology, Judaica, and Biblical text criticism of the 20th century (arguably, ever, for those with a particular interest). Controversy and consternation arose among scholars around the world as they became frustrated by the way the sequential publication of the scrolls was handled.
