Full leather bindings, such as these, were more costly to produce and are particularly desirable. This is a very high quality, heavy book. Elaborate triple ruled framing and paneling to covers. All edges cased in thick gilding. Raised hubs. Sewn in bookmark. London: Longmans, Green, and Co. 1890 Measuring 8 inches tall. In VERY GOOD Condition overall but with a lot of generalized wear or abrasion, scuffs, and rubs, as shown in the pictures. Gilt rubbed, as shown. Minor foxing. Hinges are strongly attached, but starting at extremities and rubbed. Text block is very tight. Decorative frame surrounding the text on each page. Columned text. This is a heavy book. Nearly 2000 in text illustrations. Very well preserved, some foxing, no writing but for the prize inscription. Marbled end papers. Sewn in bookmark still intact. Multiple indexes. 756 pages. Printed in English. A gorgeous and highly desirable book worthy of gifting. This would make an excellent gift and/or addition to any fine library.
