Descripción

4to, [iv],ix,[iii],131,[1]pp., presentation inscription from the author, frontispiece portrait, title-page with typographical border, 31 plates (some in coloured), pictorial endpapers with signs of sellotape residue, orig. boards, uncut, lower spine and corners a little bumped otherwise a nice copy. Jones' library reflected his own career as a printer being almost entirely concerned with fine printing in all its aspects. Several of his designs for Linotype are used, including 'Estienne' for the Incunables, 'Granjon' and 'Bernard' for the American books, and 'Georgian' for the British books. The section devoted to European books is set in 'Venezia' which was originally cut for Jones by Edward Prince before being added to the Linotype list in 1928. "The Second Catalogue. This was the library at his Gough Square premises which, according to Leonard Jay, was complementary to that at Monksbarn which had been sold by Sotheby's in 1936. However, it is likely that some items in the "first" library had been withheld from sale for sentimental reasons and are included here. A study of the contents of both libraries is essential to an understanding of the work of George W. Jones."—Rogerson, George W. Jones. 2. N° de ref. de la librería 27814
