A sound, sturdy copy of this travelogue which looks at the emerging 'modern' China of the 1920's and juxtaposes it with the traditional China so familiar to western travellers. VG/gdj: ix+361pp. the French poet, novelist and politician, Abel Bonnard (1883-1968); In 1930s he moved right and for "Le Journal" in 1937 he did Interview with Hitler. Under the Vichy Regime (1942-1944) he was education minister. Bonnard was condemned to death in July 1945 as a result of wartime crimes.
