[Bibliographical Note: This work was published in four editions between 1855 and 1895, with several reissues. Hardback, Large, approx 12 x 10 inches. Half bound in dark maroon polished calf leather fine binding, with marbled paper covered boards with attractive gilt bird vignette front and back. Leather spine lettered in gilt, with raised banding. Gilt page edges, yellow endpapers. In very good condition. Some minor wear to cover; rubbing to edges, with corners a little bumped. Title page and frontis a little rubbed on edges with a few small nicks. Some tissue guards a little tatty on edges.Some minor spots to inside pages, a couple of minor spots to plates but otherwise plates all very clean and bright throughout. Hardcover. Condición: Very good condition. First Edition. 252 pages of text. Maroon leather spine and corners, with marbled paper-covered boards. The spine is slightly darkened and rubbed. Top edge (of the closed pages covered in) gilt. Complete with 60 hand-colored ornithological plants. The text is slightly to moderately foxed, and there are a few small tears and chips to several page edges. While some plates are pristine, most of the plates have at least one or two spots of foxing in the image area, and some have a half dozen or in several cases more.
