The album is 12 x 9.5ins and bound in quarter black leather leather with cloth covered boards, externally worn with spine leather missing and the the boards strengthened with old tape, . The card pages are edge chipped and worn from use but the photographs are in good condition and they have the merit of being well annotated by Bunbury, The Bunbury family is of ancient Norman descent and its baronetcy dates from 1681 since when it moved several times from uncle to nephew [see Burkes Peerage 1914]. It's members have strong military connections most notably in the seventh baronet, Lt General Sir Henry Edward Bunbury, K.C.B. [see DNB vol III], 1778-1860, of the Coldstream Guards and 16th Lt Dragoons, awarded a gold medal for Maida, sent on a secret mission to the Duke of Wellington, and Under Secretary of State for War 1809-16. Noel Bunbury was the third son of Major Williiam St Pierre Bunbury and his mother, Lillian, was the daughter of Lt Gen the Hon Sir Charles Ramsey, K.C.S.I., C.B., brother of the 12th Earl of Dalhousie. He attended Bedford School and the album illustrates in detail his time at the Royal Military College, Camberley 1909-1910. This album is composed of 20 card leaves with photographs to both sides, many two to a page but a good number of full page images approx 11 x 8ins. All are of good professional quality. An additional rather damaged paper leaf at the start of the album lists Bunbruy's record at RMC and his career in India after sailing on Oct 5th 1910 in HMS Plassy to start duty at Bareilly. He notes his courses in Hindustani, Persian, Baluchi, and Pushtu and other specialist courses. The album begins with seeral pages of group photographs of training exercises and rugby teams matches RMC v RMA etc. Further pages include: a particularly good panoramic view of the RMC, building tressle bridges, riding groups, PE, demolition course, bicycling for military sketching, etc. There are two good half page portraits of n.c.o.s [S.S Watkins, 3rd Grenadier Gds wearing Sudan medals and S.S. White of 2nd Scots Gds] and another showing two others with the Adjutant at a medal ceremony. The facing page has a portrait of Sgt Carter, 2nd Dgn Gds mounted. A full pagw group portrait of D Coy July 1910 shows Bunbury and his fellow cadets all identified with their officers and n.c.o instructors. Facing this is an interesting group portrait showing Bunbury with 24 others in dress uniform, all identified, and the chaplain, titled Old Bedfordiana, RMC July 1910. The next page has two views of the July inspection facing a group portrait of the instructors. This is followed by a fine group portrait of the Officers of the RMC Staff in dress uniform, all identified, facing two portraits - Major White, the Riding Master, mounted and in dress uniform of the 10th Hussars, and Sgt Richards, 16th Lancers in service dress. Other views show inspections, the mess room set for dinner, the gymnasium, spectators at the sports. A double page shows two views of the cadets in London in dress uniform on 20th May 1910 for the funeral of Edward VII facing two views of the funeral procession, one showing the coffin escorted by Gentlemen at Arms, the other King George V followed by, among others, his cousin Kaiser Wilhelm II. The final leaf has a large caricature drawing of Sgt Carter and the album begins and ends with views of the ships on which Bunbury sailed for India and returned in 1920. A rather tired but well assembled album. Size: 12 x 9.5 Ins Oblong Quarto. N° de ref. de la librería 008159
