Full scale color facsimile of the unique 1957 artist's book. Bound in purple cloth boards with inset images, 32 pages in an accordion fold. Housed in matching cloth box/slipcase. Edition of 100, this one unnumbered likely among the 26 complimentary, extra copies made. With two copies of the companion booklet, saddle-stitched, entitled "A Companion to The Boobus and the Bunnyduck", in stiff violet wraps, which rest inside box's inside cover. Written for his daughter Jane, nicknamed Boobus, the story was eventually shown to Jess and his partner Robert Duncan friends of McClure the former then illustrating the project in 1957 in crayon and ink. Also of note are the endpapers, entitled "Humble Jumle", rendered in a puzzle picture-style diverging from the rest of Jess' illustrations. A special note on the condition of this work: a consistent wave is present throughout the panels, and this peculiarity is specifically addressed in a loose A4 typed letter (included herein) from production director Andrew Hoyem. The book's panels consist of two paper types laminated together, one of which expands from humidity at a faster rate than the other. The publisher states that concerned readers may send their copies back to the press for repair, which entails cutting the backing paper to relieve tension and restore flatness to the pages without compromising their structure. The copy here listed has not undergone the above treatment and retains the aforementioned wave. It is otherwise in lovely condition, presenting minor edgewear and only occasional, faint rubbing to slipcase, most numerous on interior side of lid. Panels in excellent shape besides the wave, fresh and clean. One corner of box bumped tinily. A wonder of fine bookmaking. Please note that this oversized volume will require additional shipping costs. N° de ref. del artículo ABE-1679523010703
