Raised bands to spine ruled and lettered gilt, patterned endpapers. Boards are scuffed - notably to the edges, the binding remains tight and the text is unmarked although with some minor foxing. volume one; [16], lxxxviii + 680 pp, four large folding maps, one folding plate, 801 text illustrations, volume two: [10] viii + 577 pp, 592 text illustrations, volume three: [4] 296pp, 720 illustrations.
