Ben Hur, Lew Wallace, Richard Edward King, 1880 (est) Undated but believed to be the first UK edition (the printed dedication reads "To the wife of my youth" which is understood to have changed for later editions), published the same year as the original US first edition. The binding is loose and the spine of the board has come away from the book. The red boards with gilt lettering have substantial wear and the pages have darkened with age. An inscription to the first free endpaper in pencil. A fair only copy but still a rare UK first and priced appropriately. Will be despatched, carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
