All volumes with a half title. Contents clean and bright. Publisher's mauve coloured cloth over bevel edged boards, the spines lettered in gilt, heads of spines very slightly pulled, but an attractive set nevertheless, and a very good plus set. Elizabeth Barrett Browning ( 1806 - 1881 ) was a major nineteenth - century woman poet. This collection includes in Vol. IV. ' Last Poems ' which are considered ' some of the most stringent and beautiful lyrics ' she ever wrote. Leigh Hunt called her ' the sister of Tennyson ', however one of her unknown reviewers remarks ' We object to this, and claim her as Shakespeare's daughter !
