8vo, 215x140mm (8½"x5½"). "Together with the Psalter or Psalms of David, Pointed as they are to be Sung or Said in Churches; and the Form and Manner of Making, Ordaining, and Consecrating of Bishops, Priests, and Deacons." Fine James Hayday binding of full deep purple / almost black morocco, small stamp "Bound by Hayday" at lower edge of rear pastedown. Spine with five raised bands, gilt-decorated compartments, and gilt title. Boards with decoratively gilt-edged panels, gilt double-ruled outer borders, gilt decorated edges, and inner gilt dentelles. Plain white endpapers. Title-page and texts with ruled borders, main text double-column. Two narrow ribbon bookmarks. All edges gilt. Flattened spot of dark tan residue of diameter up to 7mm adjacent to fore-edge of page 122, effects elsewheres being minor tan-rimmed loss (due to previous sticking) of diameter up to 3mm at corresponding position on following leaf (pages 123/124), and tan spot-stain of diminishing effect & extent at corresponding positions from page 121 back to page 113 and from page 125 up to page 132; these flaws confined to margins, and external appearance of text-block fore-edge unaffected. Text content otherwise faintly toned, with just a few very minor isolated spots. Verso of front flyleaf lightly toned & spotted, and with two neat gift inscriptions:- "----? Lovett, from his affectionate & grateful friends Dr. & Mrs. Henry Parnell August 23rd 1862" in five lines / "Mary Ann Lovett from her affectionate father, September 15th 1884" in four lines. Following blank preliminary leaf similarly lightly toned & spotted. Rear endpapers and preceding blank final leaf very sparsely spotted. Binding in near fine condition, contents generally clean and tight. VERY GOOD+ copy.
