1st edn., paperback original, 94pp, 1 double plate and 8pp half tone photo ills., stapled card wrappers, Air Ministry Pamphlet 156, size about 7.5 x 4.5 inches, not to be confused with the more ephemeral HMSO publication of the same name published two years earlier, an account of the sustained and co-ordinated effort by all members of the Royal Air Force during the Summer and Autumn of 1940, with details of the organization, maintenance and aircraft of the RAF, the battle from 10 July to 31 October with a conclusion and retrospect, with photo plates of many of those involved including some lesser known figures both in command and in action: Air Commodore Warrington-Morris (ROC), Air Marshal Pattinson (Training), Air Marshal Bradley (Maintenance), Air Vice Marshal Park (11 Group) and a group photograph of Air Chief Marshal Sir Hugh Dowding (by now Lord Dowding) with others including Max Aitken, 'Sailor' Malan, Alan Deere and Richard Hillary, wrappers a little rubbed and creased, some overall foxing, edges tanned, several tips of cnrs. turned, staples rusted but firm, good plus, N° de ref. de la librería 41534
