State Senator Nathaniel C. Marvin has written a few words in pencil requesting that C.E. Smith send him "two of the large Capitol Reception Cards and one small". Signed "N.C. Marvin". Slightly soiled and folded for mailing, the page's left edge shows evidence of being roughly removed. Good. The New York State lawyer and politician Nathaniel Curtis Marvin (1826-1895) practiced law in Walton, New York. He was elected colonel of the 27th Regiment of the State Militia in 1851 and served in the New York State Senate representing the 23rd congressional district in 1878 and 1879.
