Descripción:

English actor-manager (1837-1910). Note, undated, Studio, 524 Oxford Street, Marble Arch, 2 pp, 12mo, somewhat grubby. He suggests a time for him to see her the following day. Letter, "Friday" (no date), on letterhead of the Olympic Theatre, 2 pp, 12mo. "Would you mind letting me hear your voice. I think I could offer you Florette in the "Orphans" if you felt that kind of part, - perhaps you would kindly give me a call tomorrow Saturday at about 12, at the Theatre." Letter, 5 September 1878, on letterhead of the Olympic Theatre, 2 pp, 12mo, in stamped envelope addressed in autograph. "I have not written because up till now I have entertained a hope that you might play the part I spoke of. Preference has been given to Miss L. Coote. who was with me some little time back. I hope an opportunity may occur for you. - at any rate you may rely on my best efforts, / truly yours / Henry S. Neville". Also what is evidently the draft of the letter which elicited the last of the above, no date or place, 2 pp, 12mo, on the reverse of a printed notice from the General Superintendent of the Royal Albert Hall Choral Society. She complains that she called at his house the previous day and was sent to the Olympic Theatre, where he had not yet arrived. "I do not mean to grumble in the least at this kind of thing, knowing that your business duties must be very onerous just now; but I must confess to great disappointment on finding the whole of the parts filled in "The Orphans", [.] I was convinced by your kindly manner you would not willingly keep anyone in painful suspense, unless the upshot was to be pleasant. Could I understudy any part? Or could you give me a trial in the Levers de Rideau or after piece? / May I beg to favour me with a line?" Heavily creased. Two items, N° de ref. del artículo 1105
