The works in this exhibition are classified into 8 categories: Political Activists- Donglin Party and Fushe, Martyrs and Hermits; Female Calligraphy; Seal Carving - Hui, She and Donggao Schools; Classicism and Renovation - Two Wangs, Wu and Yun; Four Monks: Xin'an, Mt. Huang and Jinling Schools; The Wu School - Women, Songjiang, Wulin; Portrature - Chen of the South and Cui of the North and Bochen School; Portraits of Ming and Female Painting. This exhibition includes works by famous historical and cultural figures from the late Ming and early Qing dynasties such as Liu Zongzhou, Wang Fuzhi, Gu Yanwu, Fu Shan, Fang Yizhi, Zhang Huangyan, Qu Shisi, Wu Li, Gui Zhuang, Jin Shengtan and Mao Xiang. It also displays works by famous artists from painting history such as Chen Hongshou and Zeng Jing as well as works by representatives of the 'Four Monks', Six Masters of the Early Qing Dynasty', 'Four Wangs', 'Eight Masters of Jining' and the 'Xin'an Painting School.' In essence, this exhibition has collected the works of some 128 Ming Loyalists over time, including calligraphy, paintings and engravings.
