The Ace Engineering Company, based in Chicago, Illinois, manufactured and installed "Custom Engineered Oil Burning Systems". This is a combination trade catalog, Price List, Installation guide , and technical operating manual for "Ace Uniflow Oil Burners, copyrighted in 1947, with a rubber-stamped note indicating prices for 1950. It is an oversize book, with printed, stiff card stock cover, measuring approximately 11 3/4" x 9 1/4", with a looseleaf construction. The first part of the book, consisting of 45 pages, has price lists, a parts list, and texts dealing with combustion chamber design, installation, and operation, as well as safety procedures. The illustrations are quite technical, and include diagrams for electrical wiring also. *********************************************** The second half of the book consists of 13 typewritten pages dealing with the specifications for a number of individually numbered oil burners. Each leaf has text on one side only, and each leaf has the company letterhead at the top . At the rear of the book are included three brochures : 1) - Fold-out design, colored orange and black- Ace Uniform Oil Burners, Fully Automatic Electric-Gas Ignition. This machine has a Horizontal Rotary for Burning No. 6 Bunker "C" Oils. 2) - Fold-out design, colored yellow and black - is for a machine that has a Horizontal Rotary for Burning No. 5 Oil. 3) The third brochure, Bulletin N. 70 is a six page full-size brochure discussing Fully Automatic Combination Oil - Gas Burners. Illustrations for all three are a combination of drawings and black-and-white photographs. ******************************************** CONDITION - VERY GOOD - This is a previously owned book that is a bit rough on the exterior, but which is clean and attractive on the interior . the following particulars noted :: EXTERIOR -- Front cover has nicking, minute tears and dents about the edges, else it is is bright and displays well. the rear cover has a considerable amount of rub and abrasion with some spots where the surface paper has been scraped ; edges also display similar wear, including crimping. / BINDING -- Quite solid / INTERIOR -- Clean and presentable throughout, with no marking, writing or signatures. No numbers or marginalia. The brochures at the back are bright. / STATUS : OP - I could find no other copies of this, nor mention of them online. The company seems to have gone out of business.
