Hard back binding in publisher's later [1854] original full brown leather covers with owner's name (C. T. Lee) and date to the foot of the spine, the eight pointed star (Khatim) to the front cover is prevalent throughout most of the Muslim world, it can be seen on flags, mosques, and Qurans, colour bird of Morocco [Marocco] above the star, green and gilt title labels to the spine, blind tooling around the design to the front cover, marble end papers. 4to 10½'' x 8¼''. Contains portrait frontispiece, title page missing, xvi; [Dedication Leaf, Advertisement to the Second Edition, Preface, List of Plates, Contents]., 328 pp., 12 plates grouped to the rear, comprising 6 folding, 3 coloured, 3 monochrome; + 2 red coloured folding maps. Foxing to the edges of the plates and very lightly to the second front free end paper, old tide marks to the top and bottom of the frontispiece, rubbing to the corners and spine ends.
