From the rear foldover: 'Arizona's Dark and Bloody Ground is the first authentic history of the sanguinatry Graham-Tewksbury vendetta in the Tonto Basin country of central Arizona in the latter 1880's. In gathering reliable information for his book, Earle R. Forrest has spent many years-as a youth on the Arizona cattle range itself, and in later life among oldcourt records and newspaper files, and interviewing old-timers who have been unusually reluctant to purvey the truth throughout the years. Rare old photographs of participants and scenes in connection with the Graham-Tewksbury feud have been used to illustrate this outstanding volume of Western Americana. The 1949 revised and enlarged edition, issued in response to a long continued public demand, represents many months of patient research by the author, and is we believe, the definitive story of the Tonto Basin Feud.
