Solid heavy volume of about 400pp in original green cloth with paper label. These have color frontis' with tissue cover. Solid spine, text block and hinges. Occasional minor faded spots to cloth. They attempted to cover the body of best literature from Babylonian and Assyrian literature forward, including many obscure references not readily available today. Many of the works have synopses as well. Along with these representative works are a biography of each author, many written by such luminaries as Richard Burton, Albert Stickney, etc. . Includes critical, biographical and interpretive commentaries on each author. Generally the coverage is comprehensive. Ed by Charles Dudley Warner. Uncut. Sound and tight, eminently readable condition. Top edge gilt. The graphic is of a representative volume. Numerous plates of facsimile autographs, works, manuscripts, VIGNETTES, etc. All full page plates are tissue covered. The names of authors of commentaries are not included.
