Sinopsis

Bittersweet true stories about the everyday life, games, and emotions of three little girls growing up in the 1950s in a world which no longer exists-without video and computer games. Raised in their early childhood with love and understanding by their parents, grandparents, and relatives, the children experience a big shock when they enter the oppressive educational system of communist Bulgaria. Much changes for them, including their behavior and their activities. They quickly become used to a double life: one at home and one at school. They learn to never tell what they really think, to lie a bit, and more... The book will be of interest for children over 8 years old and for grown-ups. The author of the book, Nassya Kralevska-Owens, is a native of Bulgaria, with masters degrees in German Philology and Journalism from the Sofia University (Bulgaria). She studied journalism on scholarships in Germany and England, and she worked in Sofia as an editor. Since 1985, she has lived in the USA, married to Dr. Aaron J. Owens. In 2001, the publishing house Ivan Vasov of Sofia, Bulgaria printed her first book: Untitled - Destroyers and Builder of Bulgaria (Bez Zaglavie, in Bulgarian). In April 2009, the Publishing House "Vassil Stanilov" in Sofia, Bulgaria, printed the Nassya Kralevska's second book -- Shared Childhood - with 24 stories for "grown up kids". Ms. Kralevska-Owens rewrote her book Bez Zagalvie [Untitled], for the English-speaking audience, with the title Communism versus Democracy - Bulgaria 1944 to 1997. The manuscript was published in 2010 by the American Research Center in Sofia and is on the bestseller list of Amazon.com (Southeastern Europe). In September 2016, the Publishing House "Riva" in Sofia, Bulgaria, published Nassya Kralevska' third book - Bulgaria under Communism.
