This is the 48th issue of this yearbook which contains comparable statistics for all countries of the world, generally covering the years 1992-2002, based on data from over 35 international and national sources. It is divided into four parts under the headings of: i) world and regional summary data tables; ii) population and social statistics, including population, education and literacy, health, nutrition and childbearing, culture and communication; iii) economic activity, including national accounts and industrial production, financial statistics, labour force, wages and prices, agriculture, forestry and fishing, manufacturing, transport, energy and the environment, science and technology; and iv) international economic relations, including international merchandise trade, international tourism, balance of payments, international finance and development assistance.
