Reseña del editor:
In Opera Città, Tod Papageorge pays homage to Rome and the act of flanerie. He strolled though the city, at first without any aim, and then almost systematically, through various neighborhoods, parks, train stations, suburban avenues and the city center. Through his lens, the much-photographed city could be any urban area, filled with ordinary people living their lives.
Biografía del autor:
Upon invitation of Marco Delogu within the Commissione di Roma 2010, Tod Papageorge runs himself into this project about Rome crossing the street photography and the tradition of North-American photography. Delogu imagined it all as a series of topographic shots of Rome which Papageorge would have filled with life. But as often happens in art, creativity of Todd bypassed the initial idea to begin a sort of flanerie in Rome: a few details, a lot of gestures but never spectacular, and a city that often is not immediately recognizable and never the people watching in the camera Tod Papageorge s photographs are included in two recent monographs, Passing Through Eden: Photographs of Central Park (Steidl, 2007) and American Sports, 1970 or, How We Spent the War in Vietnam (Aperture, 2008). Aperture will also publish a book of his writings on photography in 2011. Papageorge has been the Walker Evans Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in Photography at the Yale University School of Art since 1979, and was a Resident at the American Academy in Rome for six weeks during the summer of 2009. Key Selling Points We enter Rome throungh one of the most important protagonist of the contemporary photographic scene, Tod Papageorge. The academic world and his collectors will be captured by the book
