Reseña del editor:
Concise College Physics has been prepared keeping in view the instrumental approach required in undergraduate programs. Such a need has beer felt in agricultural practices for the use of centrifuges, autQmatic height adjustment. harvesters, environmental data loggers, sensitive strain sensors .etc. Such an approach is also required by the students preparing f courses in surveying architecture, forestry, chemical technology, medicine,, To cater to the need o courses in engineering and technology, emphasis is more on practical than on theory. Both the volumes are fully illustrated with worked and numerical exarnp appended to each chapter. The book is in two volumes. Volume I deals with the foundation of mechanics and the building blocks of the physical world. Starting with a treatment of the basic principles of units, measurements and physical quantities, it covers a wide spectrum of subjects, ranging from linear kinematics and dynamics. planar an angular motions, oscillatory motions, to studies of energy. Properties of materials are covered more from a practical rather than a theoretical perspective The vnlijr ends with the subject of heat and thermodynamics. This begins with i measurement of temperature and covers the behavior of materials when heated graduating to thermodynamics. Volume II is devoted to the subject of waves, optics, electricity and eIect magnetism. Between the two volumes, the student gets a broad spectrum of b principles that underlie the study of physics for applications. Written in a simple language within the comprehension of an average studei these books are useful textbooks for undergraduate students in technical anc vocational institutions. They should also be useful for those preparing for courses ir surveying, architecture, forestry, chemical technology, medicine etc where phys - is required to be studied as one of the subjects.1 waves and wave motion. 2 superposition of waves. 3 sound waves. 4 physical optics. 5 geometrical optics1. 6 geometrical optics2. 7 optical instruments. 8 electrostatics. 9 direct current electricity. 10 the magnetic field. 11 electomagnetic induction. 12 alternating currents and voltages. 13 transient currents. 14 electical measurements. 15 solid state electronics. 16 an introduction to computers.
