An Elementary Course in Scientific Chinese, a series consisting of five books: Listening and Speaking (vol. I &II), Reading Comprehension (vol. II) &I and Listening Comprehension, has been tailored for foreign students coming to China to study in the various fields within science and technology. The whole series has vocabulary of over 3900 words, 136 commonly used grammar items and 20 functional-notional items, and will enable students to acquire the basics of language to learn science and technology within a short period of time. Listening and Speaking (vol. II), consisting of 30 lessons, focusing on the common phrases, grammar structures, common functional items and their expressions in the areas of science and technology. It acquires approximately 120 class hours to complete.
