INCLUDES THREE ITEMS: The art book in German, the text booklet in English, plus the banned Dead Kennedys Frankenchrist poster, all first editions, full details of each as follows. *1- The oversize (42 x 30cm) unpaginated (90pp) Necronomicon 2 art book contains numerous full-colour and b&w graphic illustrations throughout by Giger. Includes large foldout illustration. Text is in GERMAN. FIRST EDITION, with "1 Auflage 1985" to copyright page (inside front cover). The art book was published by Edition C, Zurich, printed in Switzerland. ISBN: 3855910200. *2- The oversize (42 x 29.5cm) text booklet presents the text of Giger's Neconomicon 2 in ENGLISH. Translated from the German by John R. Blazel. Edited by Bernd Metz. The thin staplebound text booklet is unpaginated (16pp + covers). FIRST EDITION, with "First Printing July 1986" to copyright page (inside front cover). The text booklet was published by Catalan Communications, New York, printed in Spain. Rear cover with printed note stating the price is reduced if bought with the German edition of the art book (which it presumably was). ISBN: 0874160294. *3- The laid-in large (51 x 61cm) folded Giger poster titled Frankenchrist (from the original 1985 Dead Kennedys album). The colour poster has a thick blue border with white stars. The banned poster's artwork "came to a greater level of attention during the trial of vocalist Jello Biafra after his band the Dead Kennedys featured it as a poster included with their 1985 album Frankenchrist. Penis Landscape, or Work 219: Landscape XX, is a painting by H.R. Giger. Created in 1973, airbrushed acrylic on paper-covered wood, it depicts a number of penises entering vaginas, arranged in an alternating pattern. One is wearing a condom. Biafra wanted to use the piece on the upcoming album cover. He presented the idea to the other members of the band, but the idea was rejected as the album cover. Finally it was accepted as an inserted poster. The poster was printed and inserted in the Frankenchrist album with an additional sticker on the outside shrinkwrap, warning buyers of the contents. The resulting trial for obscenity nearly drove the Alternative Tentacles label into bankruptcy". See photographs. Slight handling wear, mild shelfwear with light rubbing to covers, some stress at signature gatherings of the art book (due to heavy stock paper), usual folding crease lines to poster, otherwise a nice clean softcover set.
