Reseña del editor:
This compendium on residential floor plan design compiles and compares major international works during a period of more than 30 years. With approx. 140 examples in its new revised and expanded edition the book covers in a systematical way the various urban tasks. Carefully chosen examples span the post-WW II development of residential planning, with emphasis on contemporary design. Built works of famous or less known architects from many different countries show a wide variety of functional, typological, or experimental responses to each one of the different tasks. Every project is presented with its typical floor plans, scale 1:200. Photographs, sections, and site plans illustrate the building's setting. Besides providing the essential data on size and number of units, model of financing etc., a concise analysis describes how a particular plan is organized and how and why it works. The publication is meant to serve as a sourcebook for architects, planners and students of architecture. It meets the renewed interest and demand for thoughtful floor plan design after a period of negligence.
