By the time I was a few chapters in, I had a difficult time putting this book down. It reminds me of the science fiction I used to read as a teenager, such as Anne McCaffrey's series Dragonriders of Pern, stories rich in lore and inventive history. I thought this book was merely going to be about space-age intrigue - not quite my style -- but I was very pleasantly surprised by the intricate story that drew me in. The author deftly weaves different viewpoints and experiences together from several characters -- you're never sure where the story might lead you next, but you can't wait to find out.
