Biografía del autor

Mary Sheppard was born and raised in Lewisville, North Carolina. After attending Elon College (now Elon University), she spent her young life in Winston-Salem with her husband, Jim, and their two sons. Involved in several businesses, alone or with her late husband, she never forgot her lifelong love of writing. She always kept working to hone her skills for the novels she was determined to write. Her first one won the Sir Walter Raleigh Award given yearly for the best work of fiction by a N. C. writer. Since then she has had six others novels published and is looking forward to many more. She says that the determination to write, which she had had since a child, is like having a benign but chronic disease. It can sometimes go into remission, but can never be cured. That being true, she will continue writing warm, exciting stories but vows never give in to the temptation to appeal to readers by describing in detail things that her Southern Baptist (now Methodist) training says can well be left to the reader's imagination.

Reseña del editor

Award winning historical novelist Mary Sheppard returns to writing marvelous novels after a twenty year absence with the first novel in a gripping trilogy. Jamelle Montgomery begins the saga as a sheltered ingénue, an impressionable teenage girl of the South. With each fear, loss and threat she endures, her innocence is progressively stripped away and a resourceful, wise, strong young woman emerges. Then there are two young men, one in gray and one in blue, each with a claim upon her heart. The story begins in Virginia's hills of pride.
