After over 30 years teaching high school, and after purchasing a red Miata sportscar (his reward to himself for putting his two daughters through college), Guy Abell was looking for a new challenge during his retirement years. He completed a Master Gardener program, started volunteering with several local organizations, then answered an ad for an internship at a local newspaper. He took on writing an occasional column about his travels with wife Marti, his experiences as a Master Gardener, and his observations about life in Bradford County. Seventeen years later, he is still writing about his life, his travels, his family, and his often wry opinions about sports, gardening, memories of growing up in the 1950s, and local life.
