Following the well-known structure of The House That Jack Built, this delightful book tells the tale of growth and change in Isabella's beautiful garden – the flourishing of plants; the coming and going of the animals, insects and seasons – beginning and ending with the seeds that "slept in the soil all dark and deep". Told with great warmth, this is a comforting story about the cycle of life in its many forms.
Glenda Millard was born in the Goldfields region of Central Victoria and has lived in the area all her life. It wasn't until her four children were teenagers that she began to write in her spare time. She became a full-time writer in 1999 and has published six picture books to date: three junior fiction titles, short stories and two young adult titles.
