Harry Clarke is an internationally renowned Irish stained-glass artist. His magnificent windows in St Joseph’s Church, Terenure, highlight his unique style and skilled craftsmanship. He founded the Harry Clarke Studio in 1930 and the works of his successors are also on display in the church. They carried on his legacy and ensured that an indigenous Irish industry outshone the more bland stained glass that was prevalent at the time. This books outlines the background to these stained-glass windows and the church itself offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to see this progression – and Harry Clarke’s legacy.
Patricia Curtin-Kelly is a Cork-born art historian who lives in Dublin. She holds an MA in Art History from University College Dublin and an MSc in Human Resource Management from Sheffield Hallam University. She has lectured and been published widely. Her first book, An Ornament to the City: Holy Trinity Church & the Capuchin Order, was published in 2015.
