Críticas:
Even when he was training to be a doctor, Hugh Ainsworth had aspirations to become a writer. It is only now that he is settled at an Edinburgh practice, the GP has found the time to bring the characters he dreamed up while travelling abroad to life. The results have seen his debut novel Killing Paparazzi hit the shelves of book shops across the country. It has also seen Dr Ainsworth become something of a celebrity, with patients bringing in copies to the surgery to get them signed. His novel is a fast-paced action adventure which follows the turbulent trials of an orthopaedic surgeon who is in the frame for the murder of a well-known footballer. Hounded by the press and dragged into a murky world of espionage and counter-terrorism, the book details the reluctant hero's attempts to clear his name. Dr Ainsworth, who is based at the Gracemount Medical Practice, said: "I thought about writing a book about 12 years ago but I didn't have the time really. "When you start out as a junior doctor and you're working 100 hours a week, it's impossible to find the time to write. "But when I joined the partnership in Edinburgh, I was able to find the time to write in the evenings and at weekends." Dr Ainsworth's said his inspiration was sparked by his extensive travels, his experience of the medical profession and his interest in the Harold Shipman murder inquiry. The family doctor, who writes under the name of JH Ainsworth, said: "I like to write about medical policies and politics as well as conspiracies. I also wanted to link that to the paparazzi and write a book on an international theme. "It's based on my experience of hospital life and what can happen in hospital but it's pure fiction." The book is based at a hospital in London and focuses on young orthopaedic surgeon Nick Forbes who has moved from Edinburgh to complete his medical training. However, things go badly for him when a young footballer in his care dies and the surgeon is implicated. His --Linda Summerhayes, Health Reporter - Edinburgh News
Reseña del editor:
Nick Forbes was the duty orthopaedic surgeon when the injured footballer died unexpectedly. The cover up was on for the administrative blunder, or was it deliberate murder? Too many people had already died unnecessarily under the NHS. This was manna from heaven for the paparazzi to dig up more dirt about the medical profession despite the strong public confidence. However, somebody somewhere had other ideas about the intrusive paparazzi and they needed to die. The ramifi cations were beyond a simple murder. It concerned the rise of Al-Qaeda and Arab world domination. Planes had started to fall out of the sky and the Arabs were buying up huge chunks of the western world. The young surgeon was reluctantly dragged into the murky world of espionage and counter-terrorism, linking events in Paris to the war in Afghanistan. Having survived one ordeal, he was to discover another sinister revelation, something which could eventually cost him his life. This fast-paced action adventure incorporates murder, conspiracy, and romance into a well-woven and believable plot, making it an exciting and enjoyable read. A masterful creation from new Edinburgh author, J H Ainsworth
