Written by Michael Oliver and published by Veloce, this is a superb book on what must be one of the most Classic Formula One cars of all time. I was lucky enough to meet Michael Oliver, sharing a dinner table with him at Hethel on the occasion of the 50 Year of Lotus Celebrations. I wish I had quizzed him further regarding this book! It really is a Tour de Force, an example of just how to write a definitive model history, The author went to considerable trouble to track down all the leading characters involved in building and racing the cars. The book gives the inside story of Team Lotus, and the trials and tribulations endured by the Team mechanics, as well as recording the views of the drivers. Too many of the drivers associated with the car are no longer with us, a sad reminder of the dangers that were too often taken for granted at that time. Keith Duckworth points out in his introduction, that of the four main characters in the photograph, only he remains.
