The Global Spirit Library is the first comprehensive collection of the spiritual literature of the whole world presented in accessible form. It is aimed at people who belong to a particular religious community and wish to broaden their spiritual outlook, and also at the much larger group who have little or no attachment ot a religious community, but seek spiritual wisdom. Each volume in the series contains the major writings of one of the world's spiritual traditions, presented in the form of any annual cycle of daily readings.
The editor, Robert Van de Weyer, was raised by atheist parents who were active socialists, was introduced to religion by Hindus and Muslims in India, studied Christianity in Ethiopia and became a priest in England. He serves a church near Cambridge commited to global spirituality.
